System-on-chip (SoC) with Arm® Cortex®-M3 or M0 and h-bridge driver
Infineon’s MOTIX™ 32-bit motor control SoC portfolio with integrated h-bridge driver comprises two product families: TLE986x and TLE988x. Products integrate market proven peripherals with either LIN or CAN/CAN-FD communication and address a wide range of smart 2-phase DC motor control applications like sunroof, window lift, electrical pumps and electrical fans. While the TLE985x comes with 32-bit Arm® Cortex®-M0 core, TLE986x and TLE988x come with Arm® Cortex®-M3. In addition, TLE986x uses the same MCU and peripherals as the MOTIX™ TLE987x family integrating a 3-phase bridge driver. This enables design synergies between DC and BLDC motor control applications. The same advantage applies to the TLE988x and TLE989x.
Benefits and highlights of MOTIX™ MCU (SoC) with integrated h-bridge drivers
- Enable cost and board space improvements: Our system-on-chip solution for DC motor control integrates data processing, actuation and sensing. The chip comes in a small package and enables PCB space saving. MOTIX™ 32-bit motor control SoC with integrated h-bridge driver can driver MOSFETs at VBATT ≥ 6 V with a low number of external components, providing a very cost-effective solution on a system level.
- Support in-cabin and underhood applications with same design: Some derivatives are qualified up to Tj = 175°C and therefore enable a family design approach due to pin, package and software-compatibility.
- Enable high levels of system reliability: Extensive diagnostics and protections are embedded within the system-on-chip, more than a discrete approach can offer.
- Enable high performance: The MOTIX™ TLE988x family, part of this product portfolio, comes with CAN/CAN-FD communication interface and addresses high power BDC applications with secure motor control approach.
- Enable safety: Some of the MOTIX™ TLE988x variants have ASIL B rated safety level. They enable fail safe mechanism and error handling with safe switch off path for bridge driver.
MOTIX™ MCU tool chain and design-in support

MOTIX™ Software and Tools
- MOTIX™ Low-level driver provide users with a file pair (c./.h file) per module to allow the initialization and configuration of the module during runtime via the provided APIs. The Low-level driver is offered as demo code. Customers can also get access to additional documentation and test reports.
- Configuration tools provide graphical user interfaces to define and generate register settings for the evaluation and configuration of MOTIX™ products (e.g. MOTIX™ MCU Configuration Wizard).
- Simulation & modeling tools allow for efficient prototyping of design and calculation of right values and parameters.
- Utilities are tools which enable users to accomplish a range of tasks such as get readings, analyze data and create dashboards, e.g. Memory Analyzer.
What is the adaptive MOSFET gate control feature?
Many MOTIX™ motor control ICs use a patented concept of adaptive MOSFET gate drive. This multi-stage slew rate control enables EMC tuning via SPI, including adjusting slew rate with independence from dead-time and turn on/off delays. The on-board measurement and self-adaption of external MOSFET switching times allows balancing of power dissipation vs. EMC performance, adjusts for MOSFET lot-to-lot variations and reduces the need of end-of-end line calibration effort.
Adaptive MOSFET control is an integrated feature of MOTIX™ TLE985x and TLE988x families with integrated h-bridge driver and of MOTIX™ TLE989x family with integrated 3-phase bridge driver.
- High system frequency (60 MHz) and dual flash (read-while-write)
- Smallest fully integrated motor control solution with CAN FD
- ISO 26262 compliance (ASIL B) and context segregation (layered access right management)
- Infineon’s patented Adaptive MOSFET Control (AMC) feature
- Premium design-in support with software, tools and services
The new TLE988x devices use a B4 bridge N-channel MOSFET driver, an Arm® Cortex® M3 microcontroller, and a CAN (FD) controller and transceiver supporting a communication speed of 2 Mbps. Customers benefit not only from fast and robust communication but also from the highest computing performance.
