Body control module (BCM) with integrated gateway
Designing automotive BCMs with an integrated gateway function
In response to market trends in body control modules (BCM) with gateway functions, our solutions focus on energy efficiency, safety, connectivity, and security. Our product portfolio includes power ICs, motor control ICs, LED drivers, supply ICs, system basis chips (SBC), CAN transceivers, and more. Infineon provides comprehensive solutions to meet the evolving needs of the automotive industry.
Advanced body control modules (BCM) with integrated gateway for optimized energy efficiency
In addition to the classic BCM design, there is a trend towards integrating a gateway function, particularly in the C to F vehicle segments, i.e., from lower-medium to luxury cars.
Infineon enhances the energy efficiency of automotive body control modules with an integrated gateway by replacing relays and fuses with high-side and low-side power ICs, implementing half-bridge ICs for motor control, and utilizing LED drivers. Additionally, supply ICs, system basic chips (SBC), as well as high- and low-speed CAN transceivers minimize current consumption. The Traveo™ T2G microcontroller family provides standby controller capabilities.

Ensuring safety in automotive BCM designs with Infineon's AURIX™ microcontrollers
Ensuring safety is paramount in the design and implementation of body control modules, as they play a critical role in managing and controlling various vehicle systems. Infineon's AURIX™ TC2xx or TC3xx microcontroller families include a hardware security module (HSM) for enhanced safety. Pressure sensors in tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) further contribute to safety.
BCM with integrated gateway for increased connectivity and security
To guarantee the integrity and confidentiality of data transmitted through the gateway, strict security measures need to be implemented.
Infineon's transceivers, receivers, and security controllers are utilized in remote keyless entry (RKE) and passive keyless entry (PKE) systems. For car access, Infineon offers the CC EAL6+ high-certified Security Controller Family SLI37CMxxx, recommended by the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC).
- Identify the target applications, key features, and benefits of Infineon's MOTIX™ TLE9166EQ and TLE956x.
- Smart power switches and controllers not only are they key partners for the realization of automated driving but they are also one of the founding blocks of current automotive megatrends.
- They are essential when it comes to supplying and distributing power, as well as protecting devices from excessively high current or temperature.
