This advanced integrated circuit (IC) is specifically designed for monitoring and balancing up to 9 cells in Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery packs, which are widely used in various industries such as automotive, industrial, and consumer products. The IC performs four primary functions: measuring cell voltage, monitoring temperature, balancing individual cells, and facilitating isolated communication with the main battery controller. Furthermore, this Battery Management IC is equipped with diagnostic tools that ensure the safety of individuals in close proximity to the controlled battery.
Li-ion battery monitoring and balancing IC
This multi-channel battery monitoring and balancing system IC is designed to monitor up to 12ch in Lithium-ion battery packs used in various applications across automotive, industrial, and consumer products. The module fulfills four main functions including cell voltage measurement, temperature measurement, cell balancing, and isolated communication to the main battery controller. Additionally, there are the necessary diagnosis tools to ensure proper function guaranteeing the safety of the persons around the controlled battery.
iso-UART battery monitoring transceiver IC
An integral part of Infineon’s battery monitoring IC product family. This model uses its two UART and iso-UART interface pairs to support ring communication, improving the cost efficiency of the system. It is specifically designed for connecting several TLE9012DQU devices in a daisy chain inside a lithium-ion battery. The module also enables bidirectional information flow by including an error management unit with several inputs and outputs that are programmable on each TLE9012DQU.
Battery management IC applications
Battery management systems are used to monitor and control batteries utilized in many applications. Battery balancing ICs are a crucial safety and functionality enabler wherever they are used. Automotive battery management systems are used in electric vehicles including electric cars, trucks, and non-road vehicles such as golf carts, as well as machinery such as forklifts. In the grid and industrial power infrastructures, batteries are used as backup power, including cell phone towers, AC power substations, internet infrastructure, aviation support systems, tower communications, and weather stations. Furthermore, an increasing number of consumer products such as e-bikes and other leisure vehicles require battery power and rely on management systems for efficient and safe use.
