MOTIX™ motor system ICs (SBC) for BLDC motors
Infineon’s MOTIX™ motor system IC (SBC) is the world first IC combining DC and BLDC motor control with integrated power supply, CAN FD & LIN functions
Infineon’s MOTIX™ motor system IC (SBC) family for BLDC motor control offers high integration and performance with optimized system cost. It combines power supply, communication and multiple half-bridge MOSFET drivers. The communication interface incorporates a CAN FD (5 Mbit/s) and/or LIN transceiver. All devices feature a low-dropout voltage regulator with an output current of 250 mA/5 V and are available in a PG-VQFN-48 (7 mm x 7 mm) package.
- LDO voltage regulator 5 V/ 250 mA
- 3-phase gate driver with CSA
- Adaptive MOSFET control
- CAN FD up to 5 Mbps/LIN 2.2B/J2602
- Six PWM inputs with HS & LS capable
- 3 high-side switches
- Diagnostic & supervision features
- Configurable wake-up sources

Benefits and features of MOTIX™ motor system ICs (SBC) for BLDC motors
MOTIX™ motor system ICs (SBC) solutions have various substantial benefits through advanced diagnosis features and minimized number of components:
- Space saving: Combining the features of a supply with a multi MOSFET driver IC in a single VQFN-48 pin package with 7mm x 7mm footprint
- Energy saving: Offers intelligent power saving modes including stop and sleep mode, and the lowest quiescent current
- High system reliability: Extensive diagnostics and protections (e.g. fail-safe output, watchdog, fail-safe operating mode) are embedded within the System-on-Chip
Reduced cost: Minimum number of external components reduce BOM cost, part placing and development, purchasing, handling and PCB sizing - Multiple and flexible designs: Platform approach reduces development efforts, increase time to market and reduce design costs
Brushless DC motor system ICs for automotive applications
The MOTIX™ motor system ICs (SBC) for BLDC motors fit in a diverse range of automotive applications such as traditional fuel pump, engine cooling fans and water/oil pumps to comfort systems such as power lift gates, sunroof modules, door control units and seat modules.
What is the adaptive MOSFET control feature?
Infineon’s MOTIX™ motor system ICs (SBC) use a patented concept of adaptive MOSFET gate drive. This multi-stage slew rate control enables EMC tuning via SPI, including adjusting slew rate with independence from dead-time and turn on/off delays. The on-board measurement and self-adaption of external MOSFET switching times allow balancing of power dissipation vs. EMC performance, adjust for MOSFET lot-to-lot variations and reduce the need for end-of-line calibration effort.
