About Classic PROFET™ 24 V for automotive power distribution
Infineon's Classic PROFET™ 24 V devices offer a RDS(ON) range from 7.2 – 1000 mΩ (0.3 - 25 A). The smart 24 V high-side switches are very reliable and robust products (proven technology, more than 15 years in the market). State-of-the-art protection features and diagnostic function, specific characteristics and packages enable them to address a broad range of applications from body, powertrain, transmission, and chassis even in harsh environments. Typical applications are fuel injection, HVAC, brake control, seat heating, HEV inverter, chassis control, pumps, and all kind of valves/solenoid switching.
Classic PROFET™ 24 V for automotive power distribution
Infineon's Classic PROFET™ 24 V family offers 1- and 2-ch switches also a couple of 4-ch devices, which provide an attractive channel price and contribute to PCB space savings. Additionally, one unique 8-ch device is available. Overload protection and thermal shutdown protect both, the load and the power switch itself. Thanks to products with high energy capability (> 500 mJ), even big solenoids can be driven. High ohmic products (up to 1000 mOhm) make the portfolio more scalable and avoid overhead costs. Most of the products provide status diagnostic, some products have current sense diagnostic. Several products out of the portfolio are 24 V load dump resistant (58 V/400 ms). All products are qualified according to AEC-Q100. Because of the 24 V capability, all Classic PROFET™ 24 V products can also be used for industrial applications or be reused for automotive 12 V.
Classic PROFET™ 24 V for extended application range
Infineon's Classic PROFET™ 24 V family are mature products, proven for a long time in the market. Because of the specific features, the products can not only be used for comfort and safety functions (Body/ECUs) but also to control vehicle basic functions. Products are used in trucks and buses mainly to drive valves/solenoids and heating devices and can be found also in industrial applications, such as PLCs, robotics, and drives. Available power packages ensure excellent thermal performance. This product family complements the Infineon's newer product families, such as PROFET™+ 24 V.
Classic PROFET™ 24 V Design Support
Infineon offers a range of design-in materials, which include application notes, PCB design data, simulation models, and also online simulations. Those materials could be found on each product page in chapter "Design Support". In addition, we offer a dedicated tool suite for smart power switches and gate driver ICs for automotive power distribution.
Infineon's smart power switches and gate driver tool suite supports system architects and hardware designers from the idea to the realization. This suite allows the user to select the right smart power switch or gate driver ICs for a specific load using one of the “Finder & Selection” tools. Together with the different “Simulation & Modeling” tools, various application scenarios can be simulated for the respective product. The results can be documented in the report tool and verified with the “Configuration” tools.
