GNSS LNAs
Tracking precision and signal quality for single and dual-band applications
Devices using GNSS function, whether if they are personal navigation devices (PND), tablets, smart watches or mobile phones, require an ultra-low noise amplifier (LNA) as well as high linearity to enhance receiver sensitivity for best localization even under bad conditions or low battery.
Infineon’s portfolio of ultra-low power LNAs preserve valuable battery power at a high gain. They are ideal for those applications where battery life is the primary focus benefitting from the combination of high gain and excellent noise figure.
When power consumption is not an issue, Infineon’s high linearity LNAs combine the robustness against out of band interference signals with ultra-low noise figures.
GNSS LNAs used in dual-band configurations offer many advantages over single-band solutions:
- Interference rejection: By covering two frequency bands (L1+L2/L5), the LNAs can mitigate interference from nearby signals or other sources, improving the system’s resilience and resulting in more accurate signal reception.
- SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) improvement: Both the strength of the signal and its simultaneous amplification result in better signal quality and improved GNSS positioning.
- Future-proofing: Dual-band provides compatibility in current and future GNSS systems that may utilize two or more frequency bands.
Infineon covers Dual-band in two ways:
- A single LNA covering two bands simultaneously (L1+L2/L5 using a single LNA)
- Classic two single-band-LNAs approach (using two LNAs both covering L1 and L2/L5 bands)
We offer a wide range of GNSS LNAs products high in compatibility and flexible in design. Learn more about Infineon’s complete range of GNSS LNA solutions below!
