XENSIV™ 60GHz radar sensor for automotive enables highly reliable in-cabin monitoring systems
Infineon offers a highly integrated 60GHz radar transceiver which offers the most power and cost-effective solution for our customers. Used predominately for in-cabin monitoring systems, our 60GHz portfolio enables our customers to achieve multiple functionalities by using a single 60GHz radar setup. For instance, these sensors allow for the development of child presence detection (CPD) inside the car, which is a safety relevant feature to protect children from being locked and left behind resulting in a dangerous health risk scenario. Seat belt reminders are another add-on feature which is enabled by our 60GHz radar products.
Most power- and cost-effective solution for in-cabin monitoring systems (ICMS) with multiple functionalities using a single 60GHz radar in an antenna-in-package (AIP) or antenna-on-PCB configuration.
Prevent deaths and injuries to children due to hyperthermia when they are locked behind or gain access to an unoccupied hot car, and gain advantage of the award points from Euro NCAP for manufacturers who implement the child presence detection (CPD) feature. With a single sensor, CPD systems based on Infineon radar sensors can cover an entire 5-seater car including classification of lifeform between adult and child.

Protect the car from theft and secure the interior contents using intrusion alert systems. Infineon 60 GHz radar sensors enable alarm/alert systems to notify the user of unauthorized access such as when a hand is detected entering through a window, the sunroof, or the trunk.
Constantly monitor nearby surroundings of the car and detect if someone is shaking or trying to break in. Based on this information, an alarm system can be triggered to flash the headlights or honk the horn to ward off potential intruders.

The XENSIV™ BGT60ATR24C fully integrated radar transceiver operates in the 58 to 62 GHz frequency band. This state-of-the art radar chip features the following:
- Two transmit channels
- Four receive channels
- Low-noise phase-locked loop (PLL)
- Integrated anti-aliasing loop filter (LF)
- Sequencer and finite state machine for ramp generation
- Integrated RX baseband including analog-to-digital conversion (ADC)
- Sensor ADCs for temperature and power monitoring
- SPI interface to the application controller
