EZ-PD™ PAG2S Secondary Side Controller
Integrated secondary-side controller with USB PD, synchronous rectification (SR), and pulse-width modulator (PWM)
EZ-PD™ PAG2S supports secondary-side controlled flyback converters by pairing with EZ-PD™ PAG2P. PAG2S-AC is a secondary-side ACF controller enabling leakage energy recycling and ZVS operation. PAG2S-QZ is a secondary-side QR-ZVS controller achieving ZVS using an SR control scheme. EZ-PD™ PAG2S-PS standalone acts as a USB PD and SR-integrated secondary-side controller by pairing with third-party primary-side PWM controllers via an optocoupler.

EZ-PD™ PAG2S-AC is a highly integrated USB PD, SR, and PWM secondary-side controller supporting non-complementary active-clamp flyback (NCP-ACF). It enables leakage energy recycling and ZVS operation to reach a highly efficient flyback converter. For PWM regulation, EZ-PD™ PAG2S-AC controls high- and low-side primary switches by sending PWM signals to the primary-side counterpart EZ-PD™ PAG2P via a pulse edge transformer (PET). For synchronous rectification, EZ-PD™ PAG2S-AC supports low-side rectification with a voltage doubler feature to control both logical and non-logical level SR MOSFETs. For USB PD, EZ-PD™ PAG2S-AC offers a highly programmable flash-based solution to meet PD 3.1 specifications with SPR, PPS, and EPR support. For fault protection, it supports OCP, SCP, OVP, UVP, OTP, VBUS-CC short, VCONN current limit, and RSENSE short protection. EZ-PD™ PAG2S-AC offers programmable parameters such as digital valleys table based on line and load conditions, ACF pulse width, burst/skip frequency, and SR turn-on/off delays enabling a better system performance than fixed function controllers.
EZ-PD™ PAG2S-QZ is a highly integrated USB PD, SR, and PWM secondary-side controller supporting quasi-resonant flyback converters with zero voltage switching (QR-ZVS). It achieves ZVS using SR control schemes and eliminates additional windings and switches. For PWM regulation, EZ-PD™ PAG2S-QZ controls low-side primary switches by sending PWM signals to the primary-side counterpart EZ-PD™ PAG2P via a pulse edge transformer (PET). For USB PD, EZ-PD™ PAG2S-PS offers a highly programmable flash-based solution to meet PD 3.1 specifications with SPR, PPS, and EPR support. For SR, EZ-PD™ PAG2S-PS supports short turn-on and turn-off delays for DCM and CCM converters, voltage-second integration to avoid false turn-ons, logical and non-logical SR MOSFETs, and switching frequencies up to 300 kHz. For fault protection, it supports OCP, SCP, OVP, UVP, OTP, VBUS-CC short, and VCONN current limit. EZ-PD™ PAG2S-PS is based on an Arm® Cortex®-M0 with 64 KB flash, offers a highly programmable USB-C PD and SR-integrated controller to meet different customer design requirements and specifications, and is capable of upgrading firmware over CC lines.
