Automotive Low Dropout Linear Voltage Post Regulator TLF1963TE
Application Circuit
TLF1963TE is a low dropout voltage regulator available in PG-TO263-5 and PG-TO252-5
SMD package. The IC regulates an input voltage V I in the range of 2.5 V < V I < 20 V to an
adjustable output voltage of 1.21 V < V Q,nom < V I -V dr. The device is capable of supplying
loads up to 1.5 A. The regulator can be enabled and disabled via the Enable input.
The integrated output current limitation and the overtemperature shutdown will protect the
device against failures like output short circuit to GND, overcurrent and overtemperature.
Model performance :
- dynamic behavior not modeled (CQ/ESR stability, line/load transient response,
start-up, PSRR)
- static behavior is modelled by approximation to the real behavior of the device
over temperature
- the thermal simulations represent an approximation of the actual thermal
behavior of the device according to the JEDEC standards at power = 2 Watt
and Ambient Temperature = 85 °C
Thermal model description:
THERMAL_MODEL = 1: JEDEC 1s0p 600mm2 cooling area
THERMAL_MODEL = 2: JEDEC 1s0p 300mm2 cooling area
THERMAL_MODEL = 3: JEDEC 1s0p, footprint
THERMAL_MODEL = 4: JEDEC 2s2p, with vias
THERMAL_MODEL = 10: No self-heating, only TEMP value used as a temperature
The resistor divider for a specific output voltage can
be calculated as follows:
VQ = Vadj*(1+R2/R1) + Iadj*R2
therefore R1 = (1/(VQ - Vadj - Iadj*R2))*R2*Vadj
For this model, Vadj = 1.21 V and R1 < 12 kΩ
