Adjustable Linear Voltage Post Regulator TLS202A1MBV
Application Circuit
Model performance :
- dynamic behavior not modeled (CQ/ESR stability, line/load transient response,
start-up, PSRR)
- static behavior is modelled by approximation to the real behavior of the device
over temperature
- the thermal simulations represent an approximation of the actual thermal
behavior of the device according to the JEDEC standards at Power = 0.25W
and Tamb = 85°C
The resistor divider for a specific output voltage can
be calculated as follows:
R1 = ((VQ/Vadj)-1)*R2
VAdj = Vref ≈ 1.2 V (should be tweaked to
actual simulated value in the design parameters
for accurate results),
and R2 ≤ 50 kΩ
For VQ_max = 5.25 V, R1 ≤ 3.3*R2
therefore R1_max = 165 kΩ
Thermal model description:
THERMAL_MODEL = 1: JEDEC 1s0p, 600mm2 cooling area
THERMAL_MODEL = 2: JEDEC 1s0p, 300mm2 cooling area
THERMAL_MODEL = 3: JEDEC 1s0p, footprint
THERMAL_MODEL = 4: JEDEC 2s2p
THERMAL_MODEL = 6: JEDEC 2s2p, no vias
THERMAL_MODEL = 10: No self heating, only TEMP value used as temperature
The TLS202A1MBV is a monolithic integrated adjustable linear voltage
post regulator for load currents up to 150 mA. The TLS202A1MBV regulates
an input voltage VI in the range of 2.7 V ≤ VI ≤ 18 V to an adjustable output
voltage of 1.2 V to 5.25 V with a precision of ±3 %. The TLS202A1MBV is
especially designed for applications requiring very low standby currents, e.g.
with a permanent connection to preregulators like DC-DC converters.
The TLS202A1MBV can be also used in all other applications requiring a
stabilized voltage of 1.2 V to 5.25 V.
The device is designed for the harsh environment of automotive applications.
Therefore it is protected against overload, short circuit and overtemperature
conditions by the implemented output current limitation and the overtemperature
shutdown circuit.
