Smart High-Side Power Switch BSP452
Protection Feature: Overvoltage and Under voltage
with restart
The BSP452 is high side power switch with integrated vertical power FET,
providing embedded protection and diagnostic functions.
This circuit demonstrates the overvoltage and undervoltage protection features
of the BSP452. Many other devices provide similar protection features.
With a sweep supply voltage from 0 to 50V and back to 0V the overvoltage
and undervoltage protection features are demonstrated. The devices start
switching above the minimum functional supply voltage Vbb(on) (e.g.: 5V)
and will be shut down if it is below the undervoltage vbb(under) (e.g.: 3.5V) and
it restarts if the supply voltage is above vbb(u rst) (e.g.: 3.5V).
When supply voltage Vbb(on) is higher than Vbb(AZ) (e.g.: 41V) device is
shutdown and it restarts if the supply voltage is Vbb(o rst) (e.g. 38V).
At some point above the OV threshold, the device seem to turn-on again
(at around 100ms, Vout rise and Iout current flows). It is because of the other
OV protection (VDS clamping) which is activated and causes the output to
rise with respect to VS.
